The Anodizing Masterclass (Onsite - California)

From Tribal Knowledge to Consistent and Optimized Anodizing Operations

A two-day in-person masterclass dedicated entirely to understanding how anodizing processes behave in real production environments.

Anodizing is often treated as a series of individual process steps.

But experienced anodizers know that the real challenge is understanding how the entire system behaves. Small variations in alloys, pretreatment, rinsing, current density, contamination, or sealing can interact in ways that create instability, defects, and inconsistent quality.

This two-day in-person masterclass is designed to help engineers, operators, and production managers develop a deeper understanding of the anodizing process as a system.

Rather than simply presenting theory, the workshop combines technical explanation, industry insight, and structured discussion to help participants see anodizing operations from a broader perspective.

Participants leave with stronger process understanding and practical insight into how consistent and optimized anodizing operations are built.

Who Should Attend

This workshop is designed for professionals working directly with anodizing operations, including:

  • Process engineers
  • Production managers
  • Quality engineers
  • Anodizing technicians and operators
  • Technical managers responsible for surface treatment

Participants typically come from companies involved in:

  • Automotive and aerospace components
  • Architectural anodizing
  • Industrial anodizing operations
  • Aluminum finishing and fabrication

Both experienced anodizers and professionals newer to the field benefit from the structured perspective provided in the masterclass.

Planned for May 5 - 6, 2026 in California. Final details and pricing will be released shortly.

What Makes This Masterclass Different

Most anodizing training focuses on individual process steps.

This masterclass focuses on how the entire anodizing system works together.

Over two days we explore:

  • how aluminum alloys influence anodizing results

  • why pretreatment determines oxide quality

  • how current density and bath conditions interact

  • why rinsing and contamination control are often underestimated

  • what creates stability and consistency in anodizing lines

The goal is not only to understand the process — but to understand why anodizing lines behave the way they do.

Participants often discover that many recurring challenges are not isolated problems, but part of larger process interactions.

Exchange Experience with Other Anodizing Professionals

One of the most valuable aspects of the masterclass is the opportunity to discuss real anodizing challenges with professionals from other companies.

During the workshop we include structured discussion sessions where participants can exchange experience around topics such as:

  • common anodizing defects
  • process control strategies
  • operator training and knowledge transfer
  • maintaining consistent production across shifts

These conversations often provide insights that are difficult to obtain within a single organization.

Many participants say this exchange of experience is one of the most valuable parts of the workshop.

For this reason, we have expanded the discussion sessions compared to previous workshops.

Planned for May 5 - 6, 2026 in California. Final details and pricing will be released shortly.

Workshop Structure

Instead of following a traditional lecture format, the masterclass combines short technical sessions with guided discussion and practical reflection.

This creates an engaging environment where participants can both learn and reflect on their own operations.

DAY 1 - Understanding the Anodizing Process

Topics include:

  • Aluminum alloys and their influence on anodizing
  • Fundamentals of oxide formation
  • Pretreatment and surface preparation
  • Process parameters and their interactions
  • Understanding why anodizing lines become unstable

Throughout the day we connect the technical explanations with real-world production considerations

DAY 2 - Building Consistent and Optimized Operations

Topics include:

  • Process control and monitoring
  • Rinsing strategies and contamination management
  • Coloring and sealing reliability
  • Quality control and testing methods
  • Guided discussion of typical anodizing challenges

The second day focuses on translating technical understanding into practical process optimization.

Included in the Workshop

All participants receive:

  • Two full days of in-person training and discussion
  • Comprehensive workshop materials
  • Access to the Anodizing Masterclass e-learning program

The e-learning program allows participants to revisit the theoretical foundations after the workshop and deepen their understanding of the topics discussed.

Many companies use the e-learning material to support training of additional operators and engineers after the workshop.

Planned for May 5 - 6, 2026 in California. Final details and pricing will be released shortly.

About the Instructor

Anne Deacon Juhl has worked with anodizing processes for more than 25 years and has supported anodizing facilities across Europe, North America, and other international markets.

Through her consulting work she has visited more than 200 anodizing plants, helping companies improve process stability, product quality, and operational understanding.

Over time it has become clear that many anodizing challenges arise not from individual parameters, but from how the entire system interacts.

This masterclass is designed to share that perspective and help professionals develop a deeper understanding of anodizing operations.
